The scholarship has been a great help in easing financial pressures that come with university life. I’ve been able to buy key textbooks and materials for my accounting and finance course, which has made studying much easier and more effective.
The most interesting book I’ve acquired so far is The Trading Floor by Gary Stevenson. It explores the intricacies of trading and the culture of working in London, written from the perspective of someone who has experienced it firsthand.
After graduating, I hope to qualify as a chartered accountant and work in the financial sector. I’m particularly interested in tax. Helping individuals and businesses to manage their finances would mean a lot to me.
My piece of advice for a student like myself just about to start at university would be to always stay curious and proactive. University offers an eclectic mix of opportunities – so don’t be afraid to get involved, ask questions, and make connections. It’s also important to find balance: work hard – play hard.
