It has enabled me to invest in revision guides which I would not have been able to afford otherwise. They helped me with my studies because it enabled me to review materials faster and saved me time looking for cases because they are laid out in the books. It has made my revision and study more effective.
I am quite lucky that most of the books for my degree are on Law Trove, so the most expensive book I have bought would probably be either one of my revision guides or the Oxford Dictionary of Law at £20, enabling me to have enough scholarship funds left over for my final year.
I intend to complete the SQE and gain a training contract with a London firm, eventually becoming a qualified solicitor.
My piece of advice for a student like myself just about to start at university would be to take every opportunity that you get in first year, whether that is subject-related workshops and activities or going out and meeting new people. You do not have time to do everything in second or third year and the experiences you will gain will make you grow as an individual. Especially for me, it made me more confident and comfortable in myself and in my degree because I went into second year knowing I could not have done any more in my first year than I had. Also do not let the social side of university impact your studies, try to go to as many lectures and seminars as possible because it helps you in the future.
